Wedding Invitation Rigid Boxes

Make the invitation, cards and gifts feel like one considered set. Start with the contents and guest-list versions, then choose the opening, paper and finish.

Measure the invitation set—not only the main card

Wedding invitation rigid boxes may hold several cards, an envelope, a message insert and individually packed gifts. List every component before choosing the finished inside size. A folded invitation and an unfolded sheet have different space and removal requirements.

  • Provide the final card and envelope sizes, including folds and thickness.
  • List the number of cards and any separate gift containers.
  • Include ribbons, tabs, sleeves or decorative elements in the layout.
  • Confirm whether the family, event or language versions share the same dimensions.

Allow the recipient to lift the cards without bending them. Approve this using the actual invitation set in a physical dummy or fitted sample.

Choose how the invitation opens

StylePresentation ideaWhat to resolve
Book-style / magneticA hinged opening with an inside message.Card pocket, hinge movement and closure clearance.
Lid-and-baseA lift-off reveal for cards and gifts.Lid fit and access to the lowest card or compartment.
DrawerA sliding tray with a pull ribbon or tab.Smooth travel and a holder that does not snag.
Shoulder-neckA visible inner neck and layered paper treatment.Alignment and contrasting wrap or lining.

Separate gift compartments from card space

If the invitation includes sweets, dry fruit, candles or small gifts, share the actual containers and weights. Use dividers or fitted holders to stop the items crowding the card area. Plan the removal sequence before adding decoration.

Food-contact suitability is a separate material requirement. Individually sealed products or separately approved food-contact packaging may be needed; do not assume that a decorative rigid box or lining is suitable for direct contact with food.

Proof names, dates and finishes separately

Provide final, proofread wording and a version list. Review names, dates, venue details, languages and RSVP information at a readable scale. Confirm which elements are common across every box and which change by guest or event.

Metallic foil, embossing, debossing and printed colour are different effects. Show their separate artwork areas and check fine lettering on the selected paper. The finishes guide explains why a digital mock-up is not a physical finish approval.

Work backwards from the handover date

Your guest-delivery date is not the same as the date the empty boxes leave production. Allow for artwork corrections, sampling, gift supply, assembly, final packing and transport. Ask for a written schedule based on the agreed specification rather than assuming a universal turnaround.

If invitations will be couriered, include the protective outer and complete packed-set weight in the discussion. See the transit packaging guide and production and delivery guide.

Prepare a clear invitation-box quotation

  • Card and envelope sizes, gift-container dimensions and packed weight.
  • Box style, paper, inside lining, holder and decoration.
  • Quantity per family, event, language or personalised version.
  • Who supplies the cards and gifts, and who assembles the sets.
  • Sample requirement, delivery postcode and required handover date.

Minimum quantity, price and timing depend on the construction and version count. Confirm card printing, gift sourcing and assembly as separate quotation items where required. Use the sampling guide to record the approved structure and proof.

Questions before you order

Can the invitation and gifts share one box?

Discuss a layout with separate card space and gift compartments. The complete contents and weight are needed before size and holder approval.

Are cards, sweets and assembly included?

Not automatically. This is a packaging enquiry; any card printing, gift supply or assembly must be explicitly agreed in the quotation.

Can we use different guest names or languages?

Provide a version list and quantity per version. Approve spelling, layout and the variable fields before production; do not rely on the combined order quantity alone.

A clearer brief. A more useful quote.

Send product dimensions, quantity per version, opening style, artwork and delivery postcode. We will review the requirement and confirm specification, price and timing.
