Planning onlyIllustrative internal-space envelope
210 × 160 × 70 mm
Product envelope + your extra space. Not a confirmed box size.
- Internal-envelope volume
- 2.352 L
- Closed-envelope surface
- 1,190 cm²
Geometric comparisons only. Not board consumption, sheet yield, a lid/wrap blank, shipping weight or freight price.
What could change the cost?
Construction, insert work, print setup and finishing processes affect the quotation. Compare one change at a time.
Quantity matters too: ask for matched runs per size and artwork. Shared setup may spread across more identical boxes; the complete unit price does not halve automatically.
Fit & production checks
- Use the complete product and proposed insert to confirm the fitted sample.
- Separate setup, production, packing and freight when comparing quotes.
Have a supplier quote? Check the maths.
Optional: enter rates you received for this exact specification and quantity. These are your inputs—not Printing Material rates. Leave blank if unknown; enter 0 only for a confirmed zero charge.
Production should include the agreed components and finishes. Include all applicable pre-tax one-time charges in setup and agreed packing/freight separately. Missing items are not estimated. Any specification or quantity edit clears these rates.
Not an instant quotation. Final construction, fit, material, price and delivery require a written quotation and approved loaded sample. A rigid gift box is not automatically a courier shipping pack.
One change. A clearer decision.
Option A vs your current plan.

Area and volume changes are geometry—not a cost or savings percentage. Different styles and sheet layouts can change material yield. More units can reduce setup allocation only when that setup is unchanged.
Less back-and-forth.

One kit. More than one arrangement.
Find a layout worth sampling.
Enter each packed product. Compare tested upright arrangements with your chosen spacing—not a cavity cutting file.
The products inside.
Up to 12 piecesExample numbers below are editable—not standard product sizes. Height stays upright. “Rotate” permits only a 90° turn on the base.
Compare feasible directions.
Single layer—
Bounded shelf search, not a global packing optimum. Gaps and border space are not engineered inserts. Confirm cavities, finger access, lid fit, product retention and a loaded sample.
What if the pieces were stacked?
Geometric comparison only. Separators, crushing load, stability, surface contact and handling are not validated. This is not a recommended arrangement and cannot be applied from here.
How this layout search works
A limited set of widths, sort orders and greedy orientation choices produces shelf layouts. Every displayed candidate is checked for bounds, item identity, upright height, rotation permissions and separation. The result can miss a better feasible arrangement; it does not design complex shapes, inserts or a production blank.
A different size can change the arithmetic.
Compare usable sheet layouts.
Use supplier-confirmed flat-blank and usable-sheet dimensions. See uniform-grid counts—not an assumed box price or manufacturing waste rate.
One flat component.
Not finished box sizeA rigid box’s lid, base, wrap and insert can need separate blanks. Do not paste the finished box dimensions here. Usable sheet size must already account for the supplier’s gripper, trim and print limits.
Leave rotation off unless grain direction, artwork orientation and the production process allow it.
Count before you compare cost.
Uniform grids onlyEnter supplier values, or load the labelled arithmetic example.
| One component | Sheet A | Sheet B |

Read / manually copy the sheet brief
Minimum sheets are theoretical: make-ready, spoilage, stock defects and production overage are excluded. Rectangular footprint utilisation is not actual paper waste. Fewer sheets do not prove a lower delivered cost. Mixed-orientation nesting is not searched.
See the grid formula & exclusions
Columns = floor((usable length + gap) ÷ (blank length + gap)); rows use the same formula on width. Rotate only when permitted, then compare the two uniform grids. Sheets = ceil(required blanks ÷ blanks per sheet).
This component count is not finished-box output. Additional blanks, grain, knives, grip, nicks, gutters, print marks, foil/emboss register, machine limits and converter layout approval must be checked separately.

First, freeze one box specification.
No quote comparison is bound yet.
Supplier-entered amounts.

Costs are entered by you. No GST rate, delivery promise, supplier quality or commercial acceptance is inferred. A complete pre-tax comparison can still have unknown taxes. Final price and scope require written supplier confirmation.
The gift box is not the shipping carton.
Plan the bulk packout.
Use measured finished-box dimensions and supplier-confirmed shipping-carton limits. Compare upright grids, carton counts and shipment volume—without inventing freight prices.
Measured inputs. Explicit limits.
mm · g · kgDo not copy the box planner’s illustrative internal envelope here. This workspace needs the finished packed box’s outside size and weight, including its contents.
03 · Outside size & gross-weight limit
The entered tare is used for every carton, including the partial last carton. Limits in this tool are software bounds—not a carton strength or carrier acceptance specification.
Optional · enter your carrier/account weight rules
No carrier presets or freight prices are assumed. Use rules from your actual service/account quote. Some contracts use a different charging basis.
Illustrative arithmetic example only—not approved product, carton or carrier data. Permissions stay off until you explicitly select them.
The order, carton by carton.
Uniform upright gridsEnter confirmed inputs, then calculate. No box size or freight price is inferred.

Check the details. Keep the evidence.
Measured fit, PDF page geometry and an unsigned sample-review packet. Your inputs stay in this tab; nothing is uploaded or saved online.
Use actual product and usable cavity/opening measurements—not the planner’s illustrative internal envelope. Ask your supplier for the dimensional variation and required free space. No manufacturing allowance is assumed.
What needs to fit?

Will the entered ranges clear?
Envelope check onlyEnter measured dimensions and supplier-provided variations, then check.

No automatic orientation changes. Rounded corners, flexible foam, tapered products, retention, finger access and closure travel need physical review. Clearing these envelopes does not approve a box or insert.
Does this work for my rigid-box style?
Rectangular and circular usable envelopes can be checked for lift-off, magnetic, drawer, collapsible and round rigid boxes. The same maths applies to perfume, cosmetics, electronics and gift kits; it does not establish construction suitability.
- Lift-off / round boxes: lid nesting, wall and wrap thickness need separate measured checks.
- Magnetic boxes: hinge, flap and magnet clearance are not calculated.
- Drawer boxes: sleeve travel, stops and finger access require a loaded sample.
- Collapsible boxes: assembly, folds and corner build-up require supplier review.
- Irregular, tapered and multi-level cavities: this simple envelope model cannot validate them.
A limited local PDF check—not full artwork preflight. Ask the printer for the expected TrimBox size, accepted size variation and minimum bleed. Check the PDF for one production part at a time.
Printer’s page requirements.
Local file · max 5 MiBMaximum 20 pages. Files are parsed in an isolated worker, never rendered or uploaded. Use a plain-object PDF with a classic cross-reference table. Compressed-object/xref-stream PDFs are not supported; ask the printer for an unencrypted plain-object export (for example PDF 1.4). Rotated, unusual-unit or incomplete page-box inputs need printer review.
No PDF checked.
What the file declares.
No artwork approvalAlways NOT CHECKED: ink coverage in the bleed area, image resolution, font embedding, CMYK/spot colours, overprint, dieline alignment and foil/emboss/UV separations. Page boxes do not prove printable artwork.
Prepare an unsigned handover document from your current box plan and available checks. It is not an approval, order, electronic signature, certified test report or online sample passport.

Changes to the plan, measured fit inputs, PDF requirements/file or review notes invalidate this packet. Download to retain your draft; closing this tab loses the local state. Agree the final sample and production specification directly with the supplier.
Bulk rigid box buying, without missing details.
Start with a complete product and artwork brief, compare supplier-entered quote scope, then check measured finished boxes against the proposed master carton. Review these planning figures with your supplier before ordering.
What must match when I compare rigid box quotations?
Match the quantity per size and artwork, construction, board, insert, print and finishes. Confirm which tooling, samples, packing, freight and taxes each quote includes. A blank amount is unknown; use zero only when the supplier confirms no charge. Rebind the comparison after any specification or applied-kit change.
Can I use the internal planning envelope as the finished outer size?
Use measured or supplier-confirmed finished outer box dimensions for carton planning. The internal envelope does not include a confirmed lid, board, wrap or construction allowance. Approve the complete product, insert and loaded sample using the rigid box measurement and sampling guide and review the board and insert materials guide.
How should I check a partial last carton and stacking?
A partly filled last carton still uses the full carton’s outer volume and tare weight. Check its actual gross mass separately from a full carton, keep the supplied gross-mass limit, and permit stacking only when your supplier approves the loaded arrangement. Arithmetic does not validate crush strength, transit protection or a freight price.
Check the carrier’s current measurement and service rules: Blue Dart carriage terms and Delhivery weight guidance. Enter a divisor or rounding rule only when it applies to your quoted service.
Discuss the specification and carton plan with Printing Material.
Know what the numbers mean.
Internal envelope = (product length + 2 × allowance) × (product width + 2 × allowance) × (product height + 2 × allowance). This simple main-envelope model cannot design cavities, separate items, accommodate lids or calculate outer shipping size. The kit tab explores rectangular single-layer arrangements only—not engineered inserts or a production blank.
Volume = L × W × H ÷ 1,000,000 litres. Closed-envelope area = 2 × (LW + LH + WH) ÷ 100 cm², using those illustrative internal dimensions.
How cost comparison works
Customer-entered pre-tax total = quantity × entered production rate + entered setup + entered packing/freight. Effective cost per unit = that total ÷ quantity. No rate is inferred from size, print, board or insert selection.
Ask the supplier to separate quote inclusions, tooling, samples, packing, freight and applicable taxes. A lower geometric envelope does not guarantee a lower price. Holding an identical setup fixed while doubling quantity halves only its setup allocation per unit—not the whole unit price.
