Custom Drawer & Sliding Rigid Boxes | Printing Material

A drawer rigid box combines an outer sleeve with a sliding inner tray. It gives small products a controlled reveal and leaves room for a ribbon pull, thumb cut or another way to open the tray.

Design the sleeve and tray as one pack

The tray must slide smoothly after the paper wrap, lining and inside holder are added. Quoting only the outside sleeve dimensions can leave too little space for the product. Begin with the usable tray space and the actual item, then work out the sleeve size. The photographed fragrance box uses a ribbon pull and satin-covered presentation around the bottle.

Where a drawer box works well

For larger or heavier products, assess the tray span and how a customer will support the box while opening it. A drawer is not automatically the best choice just because it looks compact in a photograph.

  • Perfume and attar: a fitted holder keeps a small bottle presented in the tray.
  • Jewellery and coins: a shallow tray can expose the item neatly when pulled out.
  • Chocolate or dry-food gifts: separate compartments can organize individually packed items.
  • Stationery and small devices: a sleeve can carry product information while the tray organizes accessories.

Avoid the common sizing mistakes

Measure the packed product, including its cap, sleeve or protective pouch. Decide whether the product should sit flat or upright in the tray. Account for any instruction card and the thickness of the insert. Do not assume that a stated 100 mm outer dimension gives 100 mm of usable internal space. The correct clearance depends on the material and sample; there is no universal allowance for every drawer.

Print and finish across the sleeve

The sleeve offers a continuous branding surface. Full-colour artwork, a foil logo or selected spot UV can give different results. Keep critical text away from wrap joins and explain whether the inner tray needs printing as well. If artwork must align between sleeve and tray, include that requirement in the sample review.

Quote and approval checklist

Printing Material confirms the final construction, feasible order quantity, cost and timeline after reviewing the brief. Include the delivery postcode for an accurate dispatch discussion.

  • Internal tray length, width and height; product dimensions and weight.
  • Sleeve orientation and chosen opening detail.
  • Board, wrapping paper, insert and any fabric cover.
  • Outside and inside artwork, finish positions and quantity per version.
  • Slide the loaded tray, inspect joins and test product removal before approval.

Questions before you order

Are drawer and sliding boxes the same?

They usually describe the same sleeve-and-tray opening. A rigid drawer uses formed board components, while a folding carton sleeve can have a different construction.

Can a drawer box hold several perfume samples?

Yes, a compartment or cavity layout can be developed for the individual vials. Supply each vial size and the required count before the insert is designed.

Will a fabric lining protect glass?

Fabric improves the presentation surface. Product restraint and transit protection depend on the supporting insert and complete shipping pack.
