Custom Candle Rigid Boxes
A considered presentation for your candle, built around the jar—not just its label. Plan the box, holder and opening together before approving a production order.

Start with the complete candle jar
For custom candle rigid boxes, the useful starting point is the actual, closed product. Measure the jar with its lid, label and any projecting decoration. An outer jar diameter alone does not establish the insert cavity or the finished inside dimensions of the box.
- Share the closed jar’s maximum width, height and filled weight.
- Include the lid, dust cover, ribbon, instruction card or gift accessory in the layout.
- For a candle collection, provide the dimensions and quantity of each jar size separately.
- Send a physical product for fit approval where practical; clearly identify any dimensions that are provisional.
Heavy glass needs a holder that supports the product without creating a difficult removal step. The chosen clearance should be confirmed in a fitted sample rather than guessed from a photograph.
Choose the opening around the reveal
| Box style | Why consider it | Check in the sample |
|---|---|---|
| Lid-and-base | A simple lift-off presentation for a single jar. | Lid fit, grip and space above the closed jar. |
| Magnetic / book-style | A hinged opening with space for an inside message. | Lid clearance, hinge movement and holder height. |
| Drawer / sliding | A tray reveal for a compact jar or small collection. | Tray travel, pull access and product restraint. |
| Shoulder-neck | A raised inner neck for a layered presentation. | Alignment and whether the jar is easy to lift out. |
Specify the holder—not just the outer box
Paperboard supports, cut foam or EVA and covered inserts can create different presentation and removal experiences. The material, cavity depth and support points should be agreed against the jar’s geometry and weight. See the board and insert guide before choosing a material from appearance alone.
Keep glass jars separated in a multi-candle set. Check that the lid does not press against the product, labels are not rubbed during removal, and the customer can grip the jar without forcing it out. These are sample checks—not a promise of breakage-proof delivery.
Keep branding and product information readable
Printed wrapping paper can carry your fragrance name, collection artwork and brand colours. Foil, embossing, debossing and spot UV should be shown as separate artwork areas. A screen preview cannot establish a metallic finish or the final appearance on textured paper.
Provide your own approved candle-use instructions, warnings and product information where required. Packaging design does not replace the product’s safety or labelling assessment. Review the printing and finishes guide for proofing details.
A candle gift box is not a shipping system
A rigid presentation box may need a fitted protective outer for courier delivery. Review the filled pack with the intended delivery route, handling and packing process. Ship the candle closed and unlit; never use the presentation box as a candle-burning surface.
The rigid-box shipping guide separates presentation packaging from the corrugated outer, cushioning and route-specific checks.
Send a quote-ready candle packaging brief
- Jar dimensions and filled weight, plus a product sample if available.
- Quantity per jar size, fragrance and artwork version.
- Preferred opening, wrap, decoration and insert material.
- Card or accessory requirements and who will pack the finished candles.
- Delivery postcode, target arrival date and whether a shipping outer is required.
Minimum quantity, sample cost, unit price and timing are confirmed against the specification. Compare any tooling, decoration, insert, packing and freight charges separately. Use the rigid-box pricing guide to understand the cost inputs, and the sampling guide to plan approval.
Questions before you order
Can the box be sized for my own candle jar?
Yes—discuss a made-to-size box using the actual jar dimensions, weight and opening preference. Final fit and clearances need an approved sample.
Can one outer design serve several candle sizes?
It may be possible with different holders, but compare the extra material, storage and packing complexity against separate box sizes. Approve each product-and-insert combination.
Is the candle box courier-safe?
Not automatically. The presentation pack, protective outer and cushioning need to be assessed together for the actual product and delivery route.
