Gold & Silver Foil on SBS Cartons
Use a metallic detail deliberately; specify the process, area and approval reference.
Foil is a specified finish, not just a colour name
A metallic-looking printed image and a foil-stamped finish are different production directions. Ask which process is proposed, which foil shade/grade is approved and what visual sample defines the result. Screen gold is not a physical foil match.
Place the finish on the actual dieline
Mark logos, lines and text intended for foil on a separate artwork layer. Review fold lines, glue flaps, panel joins and edge placement with production. Fine details and large areas require different tooling/coverage decisions; avoid declaring a minimum feature size without a supplier-approved specification.
Combine with other finishes only after a trial
Foil can be discussed alongside print, lamination or embossing, but order of operations, adhesion, registration and the board surface must be reviewed together. A successful flat foil sample does not prove the finished carton will crease, fold and resist handling in the same way.
Cosmetics, fragrance and festive uses
A small brand mark may be sufficient for a lipstick or serum carton. A festive dry-fruit outer might use a different area or combination. Tie the treatment to the product and design rather than applying a blanket premium finish across every panel.
How to compare quotations
State the foil colour, panel locations and coverage, number of artworks, board, other finishes, quantity and sample/tooling scope. Ask for the base printed-carton price separately. The general ₹3–4 budget starting point does not automatically include foil or foil tooling.
Before you order
Can foil and embossing be aligned?
It can be proposed, but the final artwork, tooling and registration must be reviewed and sampled. It is not a blanket approval for every detail.
Can you match a gold colour from my phone?
A screen reference communicates a direction. Approve the physical foil/material sample as the production reference.
Is gold foil included in the lowest carton price?
Not by default. It is a separately specified finish with quantity and tooling considerations.
